SwedenDay is about "Miss SwedenDay" . . .

Miss SwedenDay, 2004,  Alissa Lyon, was expected to participate in various Scandinavian events.

Here she rides aboard a brand new Volvo Convertible in the 17th of May parade in Brooklyn, NY.

Miss SwedenDay Contests past and present are always an event worth waiting for. These lovely contestants bring beauty, charm and inspiration to every SwedenDay.

SwedenDay is about "Kids"

. . . Kids love this event with games and prizes and dancing and hot dogs and . . .

Well, kids of ALL ages love this day!

SwedenDay is about "Dedication"

. . . Behind the scenes, hundreds of people over the years have worked very hard to make this annual event a success.

SwedenDay is about "Community Leaders" . . .

We've had ambassadors, Consul Generals, City officials and who knows, maybe one day Air Force 1 might land on the lawn.

SwedenDay is about "Music"

. . . Preserving the sounds of our Scandinavian forefathers.

SwedenDay is about "Dance"

. . . Folkdancers, young and old, gammaldans and even a little "boogie"  liven the spirit and elevate the soul.

SwedenDay is about "PRIZES" . . . won from the many raffle contests held. Even a trip to Sweden aboard SAS airlines.

SwedenDay is about "Food"

. . . The Manhem Club prepares and serves delicious Meatball and Herring dinners with wines and drinks of all kinds and flavors. And the desserts are terrific.

SwedenDay is about "Location"

. . . Manhem Club on the water in the Throgs Neck area of the Bronx has been the home to SwedenDay for many years. This is a picture postcard setting with swimming and picnicking and so much more.

If you haven't figured it out yet, SwedenDay is about having lots of great fun celebrating our Swedish Heritage.

And, guess what? Even if you're not a Swede, you're welcome to join in the fun.
